Yay, Back to Explorer Time

Welcome back to Term 2! We had another wonderful time in the sunshine today at Explorer Time. So many great things were happening. Here are pictures of just a few....
Amazing playdough and natural materials hedgehogs were formed

and other wonderful creations.

Some fantastic stories were written

and great non fiction books were made.
Pieces of abstract art were designed,

made and displayed.

Very involved games were played.

Perseverance was shown in learning how to sew,

straight lines were sewn,

and hearts for dads were carefully made.

Tyres were rolled with great glee

and great lakes were created.

Wonderful Wire Art and an elephant home.

This is the third week we have had wire out to provoke thinking and creativity and sculptures are getting more detailed. Here we have a cat and a dog. The children invented ways to attach wire. Children were also challenged to make animal homes with Lego.

Room 19 Adopted an Elephant!

On Tuesday we held our elephant market to raise money to adopt a Sumatran elephant. We baked and baked and baked (with some help from lots of parents donating ingredients and their time), made lemonade, busked, and sold some gorgeous elephant key rings, made and donated by one of our lovely Mums. We want to thank everyone who came and bought things at our market. We made enough money to adopt Bona, a four year old orphan elephant, and have some money left over to donate to another wonderful cause, which we will tell you about soon. We learnt how to do a lot of things so we could run our market, and we think all our hard work was worth it! Here are some photos of the day.

It was hard work squeezing all the lemons for the lemonade!

Having fun icing the biscuits!

All the elephant helper hats lined up ready to go.
The first lot of salespeople ready with their 'elephant helper' hats on.

Two of our fabulous buskers getting a donation for their efforts.
